Why the Nightmare on Elm Street Remake Failed

Film studios need to make money to keep rolling out those hits. So it’s no surprise that they sometimes dig back into their back catalogues to find something that will get bums on seats in theatres, while also sending fans into a frenzy for Blu‑ray special editions, sequels, and merchandise. And what’s better than a proven franchise just gathering dust?
While most horror fans hate the idea of their favourite films being hit with the ugly remake stick, every film is a prime candidate for a re‑telling — it’s just a matter of time.
A Nightmare on Elm Street was hit in 2010, when New Line decided the film had sat in the dark for long enough and it was time for Freddy Krueger to once more haunt our dreams. But this is one remake that just didn’t stick the landing. Despite a bigger budget and a bolder vision, the dream master failed to haunt us like he did back in the ’80s and ’90s.
Taking a bigger bite out of this complex pie is MikesMovieRoom, which has gathered some dark details on this terrible tale of corporate greed versus fans’ dreams. So… take a breath, hold my hand (sorry, it’s a bit clammy)… we’re going in.
Here is why The Nightmare on Elm Street remake failed. Enjoy...
