Based on the short story “The Forbidden” by Clive Barker, Bernard Rose’s adaption, Candyman, has grown into a popular franchise and catapulted the films antagonist into the halls of horror villain fame. Whilst Barker’s short story was about segregation and the culture of the poor urban areas in his native Liverpool, Rose transported the mystical villain to Chicago’s downbeat housing project of Cabrini Green. It is here that Candyman took on a life of his onw. Free of the pages of Barkers novel, Daniel Robitaille has grown into a force to e feared.
