The Toxic Avenger Red Band Trailer Kicks Ass

The long-delayed The Toxic Avenger reboot has finally spewed up a REDBAND trailer filled with all the good stuff we expected from this Peter Dinklage-helmed gorefest.
This superhero black comedy splatter film, written and directed by Macon Blair, is sure to bring the joys of Troma Entertainment to a whole host of new horror fans, tenderly sticking their feet into the bubbling toxic waste that many of us know and love. Lloyd Kaufman’s production company has always delivered on the graphic violence, over-the-top gore, and wild nudity that introduced many ’80s and ’90s horror fans to the world of tongue-in-cheek splatter entertainment.
This latest endeavour, a reboot of Troma’s biggest franchise The Toxic Avenger, looks to be doing all the right things—and with all the right body pieces.
Dinklage plays a new character—rather than Toxie’s original human form, Melvin Junko—called Winston Gooze, a stereotypical weakling who works as a janitor at Garb-X health club and is diagnosed with a terminal illness that can only be cured by an expensive treatment his greedy, power-hungry employer refuses to pay for. After deciding to take matters into his own hands and rob his company, Winston falls into a pit of toxic waste and is transformed into a deformed monster who sets out to do good and get back at all the people who have wronged him.
Joining Dinklage are Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood as Bob and Fritz Garbinger, the chief villains of the film.
The trailer shows glimpses of Winston’s transformation, alongside clips of Toxie kicking serious ass with his radioactive mop. The film is due out later this year on August 29th.
It’s RED, so you’ll have to sign in (to Youtube) to watch, but check out the trailer below.
