Pennywise Returns: ‘Welcome to Derry’ 2 minute Teaser Unleashed
Just when you thought it was safe to visit Derry, the nightmare returns. HBO Max has dropped a new 2-minute teaser for IT: Welcome to Derry (2025), and it looks like Pennywise is sharpening his teeth for another round of childhood trauma.
Set decades before the events of IT (2017) and IT: Chapter Two (2019), this prequel series promises to dig into the dark, bloody roots of Derry’s curse. The teaser drags us back to 1962—the setting for the first series—where ominous shots of deserted streets and terrified townsfolk foreshadow horrors to come. Andy Muschietti (director of the recent IT films) returns as executive producer and has teased that, if a second and third season are greenlit, they’ll take us even further back in time: to 1935 and 1908, respectively. There’s nothing like generational trauma!
The trailer is jam-packed with dark imagery, a sinister handful of red balloons, and just enough glimpses of Pennywise (or IT itself) to leave you questioning every shadow. Expect the same top-tier terror and twisted fun as the films. The cast includes Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, and James Remar—but let’s be honest, we’re all just here for the clown.
IT: Welcome to Derry is set to premiere in 2025 on HBO Max. For fans who can’t resist a trip to Derry, keep your eyes peeled for more trailers—and maybe give those storm drains a wide berth.
