Neve Campbell Returns for Scream 7
📗 SUMMARY
- Neve Campbell will return for the 7th Scream film
- The actress joins after the firing of Melissa Barrera
- Scream writer Kevin Williamson will direct the new film
It’s been a tricky few months for the Scream Series, after Spyglass Media Group fired franchise star Melissa Barrera from her leading role in the upcoming 7th film. Following her departure, Jenna Ortega also dropped out of the project, siting scheduling conflicts. With the series in turmoil, it seems there is only one way forward, backwards.
After sitting out Scream 6 over a salary dispute, franchise star Neve Campbell has announced her return in the upcoming seventh movie. “Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!!” Campbell posted on Instagram on Tuesday, filling in the missing pieces for the future film.
Campbell shared her excitement on Instagram, expressing her joy at reprising her role.
“It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!!”
Another interesting turn is the inclusion of Scream writer Kevin Williamson as director, which will mark only his second time in the big chair, with his directorial debut being 1999’s Teaching Mrs. Tingle. One thing is for sure, the next Scream is going to be one hell of an exciting project.
