The Best UK Halloween Treats in 2016
What’s the best thing about Halloween? We’ll ask any trick and treater and you’ll undoubtedly get the answer “Candy”. The UK is not as big on this spooky holiday as our friends over I n the states, but those of us who care enough like to give out the best treats they can. We looked at the best Halloween treats out there, good for snacks, parties or to give to passing ghouls that may knock at your door this hallows eve. The Best UK Halloween Candy in 2016.
Shop Brand Candy
It’s always good to have a nice assortment of candy on hand for those devilish Trick or Treaters, so your best option are the store brand Halloween treats that are widely available in all stores. From chocolates to popping candy, you’ll find a host of striking looking products on the shelves this year. However, they are cheap and not the best tasting items out there.
Ghostbusters – Slimer Mallows
There are a lot of Ghostbuster products out there this year, all which are pretty cheap and nasty looking lollies and candies, but the Slimer Mallows are different and tasty alternatives to add to your trick and treat bags. They Look awful, and smell a little funky, but they taste just like marshmallow. Why they picked Slimer instead of Staypuft is beyond us!
Mr Kipling – Fiendish Fancies
The fiendish Fancies are only slightly different from your traditional French Fancies, with the icing being a pumpkin yellow. It tastes the same as the normal non-Halloween fancies.
Cadbury – Trick or Treat Cauldron
A little lack lustre, as it’s just a cheap plastic bucket of Cadbury’s Mini Rolls, but it’s a great non effort item you can dump on your table for party food, or hand out to trick or treaters.
Soreen Scream – Toffee Apple & Chocolate & Blood Orange
Soreen’s Lunchbox Loaves may have gone under the radar, but will certainly be front and center of Halloween treats, as they sit next to other bigger brand products. With two flavours available, Toffee Apple and Chocolate & Blood Orange, these bars are a nice twist on their bite sized loaves.
Mr Kipling – Toffee Terror Whirls
A fiendish twist on a Viennese Whirls, Mr Kipling have switched out Jam for toffee. However, the toffee filling is lacking resulting a rather dry biscuit.
Jaffa Cakes – Fang-Tastic Orange Cake Bars
Mcvities Jaffa Orange Fangtastic Cake Bar are sadly just regular Jaffa Cake Bars in a Halloween packaging. Nether less, they are still delicious and will go down a treat at your Halloween party.
Nestle Milky Bar Ghost & Smarties Pumpkin
Nestles little treats look great and are perfect for Trick and Treaters. Whilst the Milkybar Ghost is a little disappointing, being very thing chocolate and empty inside, the Smarties Pumpkin has a few mini smarties inside, making it fun filled treat for kids.
Cadbury – Ghoost Egg
Cadburys green coloured Scream egg sadly seems to missing from shelves this year, instead we have Ghoost eggs, which are just normal Cream eggs in a different wrapper. Still tasty, just disappointing that the popular Scream Eggs have not returned.
Cadbury – Pumpkin Patch Cakes
Pumpkin Patch Cakes are Chocolate flavoured sponge layered with an orange coloured crème, covered in milk chocolate and finished with a pumpkin decoration. It’s spooky and different and something you’ll want as part of your Halloween party food.
Cadbury – Screme Egg Biscuits
New on shelves this year are Cadbury Screme Egg Biscuits, which may explain why the Screme eggs are missing. Instead, the popular Halloween treat has been given the biscuit upgrade, and they are delicious. With the white and green fondant filling, and a tasty biscuit base, this chocolate biscuit is a real crowd pleaser. However, our pack look like it had been smashed when we opened it.
Cadbury – Crunchy Spider
Cadbury’s Crunchy Spider are one of those items that only ever rear their ugly heads in October, and they are worth the wait. They are made of delicious Cadbury milk chocolate with green crisped rice balls inside, covered in a spider foil, which is attached to a cardboard base. The must have item for those that want to please Trick or Treaters.
Mr Kipling – Chocolate & Slime Slices
One thing we love is a when a company produce something specially for Halloween. There are plenty of products that get a packaging update for Samhain, but you still end up with the same product. Mr Kipling’s Chocolate & Slime Slices are delicious bakes that have been made specially for Halloween. They are like the normal range of slices, but with a gentle lime flavoured sponge and chocolate top. To add to the effect, the sponge has been given a gruesome green colour.
Sadly, missing in action this year is Cadburys Cinder toffee bars, which were top on my list last year. Not sure if they are sold out, or just not in production, but I’ve been unable to find them anywhere. Dop us a message below if you think we have missed something, or even to tell us your favorite Halloween Treat!
