Werewolves
So you best friend just been bitten by a wolf and you’re wondering what to do? Well don’t panic just yet as lycanthropy comes in many forms. As a best case scenario, he might just need a shave and a few lessons on urinal etiquette.. on the other hand, you may need to melt down your mother’s silver brooch and cast some bullets. Forewarned is forearmed, and so we have weaved together a collection of hairy beats for your study. Take note and beware…these creatures bite!
Furry Face – The Wolf Man (1941)
Looking like he could do with a shave, the creature from the classic The Wolf Man, looks someone suffering from an abnormal bout of hair growth, rather than someone with lycanthropy. A quick visit to the barbers and he’ll look as good as human.
Hybrid – The Howling (1981)
Appearing in many forms ands with varying transformations, the infected can transform at will and are not slaves to luna activity like classic werewolves. They are also in control of their wolf forms making them smart and deadly. Being bitten by one of these fanged fiends will transform that person into a werewolf. Only a sliver bullet will save your soul at this point!
Full Beast – American Werewolf in London (1981)
Once bitten twice shy. American backpacker David Kessler bites of more than he can chew when he’s bitten by a werewolf in the North York Moors. Undergoing a painful and graphic transformation at the turn of a full moon, David becomes a 200 pound killing machine. With the spirits of his victims haunting him, David is encouraged to take his own life, but a transformation in central London takes the choice from him. The boys in blue trap the wolf in a backstreet where the beast is gunned down. Luckily this Lycan is easily felled with regular bullets. No silver needed!
Wearing a human – Company of Wolves (1984)
Beware men whose eyebrows meet This is the warning given to young Rosaleen, which she willfully ignores when she meets an attractive huntsman. But he is no man, but a wolf wearing the skin of a man, which she finds out when he transforms before her. These creatures transform into real wolves, but they are not as blood thirsty as some werewolves, these beasts are lovelorn creatures that survive in packs. Awww! Now, as then, ’tis simple truth, Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth!
Yetti – Waxworks (1988)
Visiting a Mysterious wax museum, patron Tony get himself into a predicament, when he finds himself face to face with a giant werewolf. Bitten and beaten, he is saved from being ripped apart by a hunter and his son, who arrive to kill the werewolf. The hunter succeed in felling the giant bear like beats, but soon turns his guns on Tony as he begins to transform into a werewolf. Larger than most wolves, this terrifying creature is big and strong…and made of wax!
Jack Nicholson – Wolf (1994)
When Will Randall is bitten by a wolf, he starts to find himself waking up in strange places covered in blood. With no memory of the nights events, he starts to realise that he is becoming a wolf. It’s a slow transformation from man to wolf, that see’s his senses and physical traits heightened. Once the transformation has complete, he will remain a wolf for the rest of his life.
Bald Bear – Ginger Snaps (2000)
Brigitte and Ginger Fitzgerald are teenage sisters who harbor a fascination with death. The sisters are attacked by a creature, leaving Ginger wounded. Gingers wounds heal quickly and she starts to undergo a strange transformation, which the girls mistake for puberty. Ginger undergoes physical and mental transformations, becoming increasingly aggressive as well as growing a tail. Fully transformed the creature looks like a bear with alopecia. Despite an increased healing factor, these creatures can be killed by any means. Infection can occur from significant exposure to body fluids and a cure is possible using Monkshood, a purple flower also known as Wolfs Bane.
Standing Tall – Dog Soldiers (2002)
A matriarchal group of werewolves living away from civilization are the target of a government mission. Hoping to capture a live werewolf,so that it can be studied and exploited as a weapon, a group of soldiers find themselves fighting against the man-like beats. With slim and hairless body and a wolves head, these creatures are strong and relentless.
CGI – Underworld (2003)
An ancient feud between Lycans and Vampires spills into the streets as a Death Dealer looks to revenge her murdered family. These CGI creatures are fast and furious. They retain their human intelligence and personalities while transformed and generally hunt in packs. Biologically immortal,, their increased healing means that they are very hard to kill. They are highly allergic to silver.
Pissed off teddy bear – Cursed (2005)
Following an animal attack, Jimmy Myers and his sister Ellie, believe that they have been injured by a werewolf, and in turn start showing symptoms of lycanthropy. With heightened senses and strength, theses Werewolves look like huge bears and are immortal. The only way to kill these creatures, is by separating the brain from the heart body. Jimmy and Ellie track down the wolf that infected them, stabbing it with a silver cake server and finally beheading it with a shovel. The body burst into flames.
