Ralph Fiennes Joins Star Studded Cast of ‘28 Years Later’

Remember the chills from 28 Days Later? The movie threw us into a terrifying vision of England turned into a wasteland by a rage-inducing virus. Its 2007 sequel, 28 Weeks Later, although not directed by Boyle or Garland, continued the harrowing tale of survival. Now, nearly two decades later, the original creators are aiming to revive and expand this horrifying universe.

Alex Garland is set to weave his narrative magic as the writer of 28 Years Later, and with Boyle in the director’s chair, we can expect a cinematic treat. Garland is also planning to pen at least one more sequel. Nia DaCosta is in talks to direct the second installment. It ceratinly sounds like this could be the beginning of a new, gripping trilogy!

To further hype the film, and possible triology, the casting news is pretty exciting. We’ve got Jodie Comer, who’s been absolutely killing it in both TV and film, stepping into this post-apocalyptic world. Joining her are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, known for his intense roles and upcoming Kraven the Hunter, and Ralph Fiennes, who never fails to mesmerize with his performances. While the specifics of their roles are under wraps, the mere thought of these talents navigating a desolate England is thrilling!

Alongside Boyle and Garland, Andrew Macdonald and Peter Rice are also on board as producers. Their involvement promises that this project is in experienced hands.

While details about the plot are still a mystery, the presence of Cillian Murphy as an executive producer adds another layer of intrigue. Will he make a cameo? Only time will tell.
