New ‘War Worlds’ Trailer: Ice Cube In Bold Sci-Fi Reimagining

The new War Worlds trailer has landed, revealing a bold, screenlife reimagining of H.G. Wells’ legendary story. Starring Ice Cube (Anaconda (1997)), War Worlds (2025) hits Prime Video globally on 30 July 2025.
Produced by Patrick Aiello (As Above, So Below (2014)) and Timur Bekmambetov (Unfriended (2014), Hardcore Henry (2015), Missing (2023)), directed by Rich Lee, and written by Kenneth Golde and Marc Hyman, this modern adaptation is ready to plug into your digital nightmares.
Ice Cube stars as Will Radford, a top Homeland Security cyber-security analyst. Will spends his days tracking threats to national security through a mass surveillance programme—until an attack from an unknown entity makes him question whether the government is hiding the truth not just from him, but from the entire world.
Set against the backdrop of surveillance, mass data collection, and government-tech collusion, this version explores urgent themes: privacy vs. security, family vs. work, humanity vs. control. With nods to Orwell’s 1984 and powered by a screenlife format, it’s a fresh spin on H.G. Wells’ classic that taps directly into today’s digital anxieties.
The film also stars Eva Longoria, Clark Gregg, Andrea Savage, Henry Hunter Hall, Iman Benson, Devon Bostick, and Michael O’Neill.
The War Worlds trailer (below) gives us a glimpse of a digital-age nightmare, where Ice Cube’s character faces an alien invasion through a barrage of screens and surveillance. Instead of radio broadcasts or newspaper headlines, this version immerses viewers in the chaos as experienced through smartphones, computers, and tablets.
According to the producers, the idea was sparked by how we now experience global catastrophes—through our devices. This insight drove their approach, using modern tech to create an immersive thriller.
For the first time on this scale, a sci-fi epic has been produced in a format that puts viewers directly inside the action—via phones, computers, and tablets. It’s made for the big screen but feels as intimate as your own social feed.
Producer Timur Bekmambetov says:
“If aliens invaded today, how would we experience it? Most likely, we’d be watching on our phones. Back when Orson Welles sent listeners into a panic with his radio broadcast of War of the Worlds, he used the tech of his time. Now, our medium is screens.”
War Worlds (2025) streams on Prime Video from 30 July 2025—so get ready to ask yourself: if aliens really invaded today, would you even look up from your phone?
