Neve Campbell Officially Confirms ‘Scream 8’ Return

t's full steam ahead for the next STAB, as Neve Campbell officially confirms her Scream 8 return.
The franchise has had its ups and downs over the last few years. After scrapping their original reboot direction following the sudden exit of lead Melissa Barrera over public statements that have since gained much wider support, Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures found themselves in a tight spot. Having to pivot away from their new trilogy plan, the studio had little choice but to think outside the box... and pay top dollar to bring Neve back along for the ride.
Whilst Scream 7 was a polarising film with fans, with the return of Stu Macher being the biggest bugbear, it made $208 million worldwide on a $45 million budget, meaning that a sequel was almost inevitable.
With Sidney Prescott's return, and the focus shifted back to her and her family, the big question was if this story point would continue into the next chapter. Her answer is yes.
In a recent interview with AP News for Netflix's Black Doves season 2, she said:
"I’ll be in it."
That's it... that's the news. No more information, no story point, just one single line that signals more trouble for Sidney Prescott.
No Scream movie ever leaves the door open for a sequel, but at this point you almost assume that the story will move forward with or without any existing cast members. I honestly think that the studio should do the right thing and finally cut ties from Sidney. Give her a Casey Becker style opening and then leave the past behind. Move on with a new story, new characters and make it something special.
We'll see when more news drops.
