Hidden Ending Exposed: Never-Before-Seen Images from Freddy’s Dead (1991)

New Line Cinema decided to wrap up A Nightmare on Elm Street with 1991’s Freddy’s Dead, the sixth film in the franchise. Kruger bowed out at the hands of his own daughter who finally destroyed the Dream Demon for good.
However, director Rachel Talalay recently revealed some images from the long lost alternative ending, that would have left the door open for more films.
Talalay dropped an insightful video over on her Youtube Channel, which breaks down what happened and why the original ending was cut.
“We cut the sequence out of the film almost immediately, so we never even tested it… It was pretty much agreed universally that you can’t call the film Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare and have a coda like that. I have screenshots. I must’ve screenshotted it before I lost the footage. Pretty much everyone agreed it was false advertising.”
The plan was to see the dream demons leave Freddy and enter the body of a young boy, hinting that the cycle of nightmares will continue. The footage has long been lost and only these screen grabs from Talalay exist. Check them out below alongside the video.
