‘The Conjuring 4’ in Development

by | Oct 24, 2022

Whilst the The Devil Made Me Do It hit cinemas in 2021, pushing The Conjuring franchise into a profit of over $2 Billion worldwide, it certainly was not the The Conjuring sequel we were looking for and left many wanting a little more. Luckily, for fans of the series, a new film is finally in development over at New Line.

THR hit us up with the spooky news this weekend, announcing that Producers James Wan and Peter Safran, the filmmaking team behind every film in the ‘Conjuring’ Universe, will be back once more to bring the next chapter to life. Johnson-McGoldrick, the writer behind The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, will also be back to pen the new script.

“The Conjuring films are based on the real-life case files of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, although the exact case for new installment is being secret. “

So, whilst we know the film is happening, right now, there is no news on which of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s cases this film will be based on. It’s very possible that they could go down the prequel route and show off the case that pretty much put the two ghost hunters on the map, and also launched the cinematic haunted house sub-genre, The Amityville Horror. This would certainly be an interested direction, but might be a little too stale, as the Amityville story has been told in many films. In The Conjuring franchise, the Amityville case is only briefly mentioned.
