‘Salem’s Lot’ Movie Release Date Set For 2022
This new adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot will star Bad Times at the El Royale’s Lewis Pullman (The son of Bill Pullman) as Ben Mears, a writer who returns to his child-hood home only to find it slowly infested with vampires. Joining Pullman is Bill Camp (The Queen’s Gambit) as high school teacher Matt Burke, who plays a Van Helsing styled role in the books, guiding Ben and his small band of vampire hunters in a desperate fight back against the growing infection. Joining the group will be Makenzie Leigh (Gotham) will appears as Ben’s love interest Susan Norton, and Alfre Woodard as gender swapped Dr. Cody.
Directing the new film is writer-director Gary Dauberman, who has been a writing force in the Conjuring universe, and also penned the screen plays and co-wrote another King adaption, IT and IT Part Two in 2017 and 2019. This is only his second directing gig, having jumped behind the camera for Annabelle Comes Home.
The September release date is also a super smart choice, considering that mid-October’s release of Halloween Ends will surly be the big pull for Halloween in 2022. Both IT movies came out in September and both hit the top 10 of the domestic box office, so it could be the perfect date for another King Adaption. Whether or not Salem’s Lot can be as successful as IT remains to be seen. I guess we will find out in 2022.
