John Carpenter Returns to Halloween
When we heard that The Weinstein Company had lost the film rights to the Halloween franchise, we envisioned all sorts of cool crossover prospects for Michael Myers. But the news today, is much cooler than that. The next installment of Halloween will be shared between between Blumhouse, Miramax, and Trancas International Films, with Jason Blum and Malek Akkad acting as producers. However the big news is that John Carpenter is set to executive produce.
Bloody Disgusting report Carpenter as saying
“38 years after the original Halloween. I’m going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all,”
With Akkad, adding
“Trancas International is thrilled to be teaming up with Miramax on Halloween, one of the most enduring horror franchises in film. We are also very excited to be working with Jason Blum and the whole team at Blumhouse. Together, along with the return of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, we are eager to make a film that will be a milestone in the franchise’s legacy and that will excite the fans, young and old.”
Sadley no news on if Carpenter would get back in the big chair, but that would be amazing. The film is aiming to launch late 2017.
