Hammer Horror Awakens Under New Leadership - Horror News - Horror Land

Renowned British Theater Mogul John Gore Acquires Studio Hammer Films, Known for 'Dracula'

Hammer Films and Studios

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Amicus Film Studios will be returning. Another well loved british horror institute is about to rise from the grave. The well-known British horror brand, Hammer Films, and Studios, has recently been purchased by John Gore, a respected theater producer from Britain.

Gore, a highly acclaimed entertainment producer who has received numerous awards such as the Tony, Emmy, and Olivier Awards, is renowned for his theater company, the John Gore Organization. He is now been appointed as the chair and CEO of Hammer Films, and hopes to breath some fresh life into the rotting coprse of this once well respect film stduio.

Established in 1934, Hammer Films has become synonymous with the horror genre, having played a significant role in shaping British horror with timeless movies like "Dracula" (1958), "The Curse of Frankenstein" (1957), and "The Mummy" (1959). These films not only propelled Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing to stardom but also spawned a series of successful sequels worldwide. Hammer Films' portfolio also includes iconic films like "One Million Years B.C." (1966) featuring Raquel Welch and "She" (1965) starring Ursula Andress. With an extensive collection of content, Hammer Films boasts notable titles such as "The Abominable Snowman" (1957), and "The Quatermass Experiment" (1953) and most recently films such as "Let Me In" (2010) and "The Woman in Black" (2012). 

Gore intends to make substantial investments in Hammer Films to revitalize the studio, merging the timeless appeal of Hammer with contemporary cinematic techniques and creativity, all the while maintaining its rich legacy and extensive collection. An exciting lineup of movies and ventures will be announced in the near future.

B Good Picture Company is set to release their first film under the new studio incarnation, titled "Doctor Jekyll". The movie stars Eddie Izzard and Scott Chambers and is directed by Joe Stephenson. The theatrical release is scheduled for later this year.
