It’s no secret that Stephen King hated Stanley Kubrick’s version of his novel, The Shining. But what may have slipped you by is a TV mini series that king put together, with the help of king collaborator Mick Garris, to tell the true story of his book. In 1997, King brought his chilling novel to the little screen in a three part TV miniseries that saw Steven Weber step into the shoes of Jack Torrance. Garris had had success with the TV mini series of The Stand a few before, and he was the perfect fit to bring King’s screen play to life. They even shot in the hotel that original inspired King’s novel.
