Will Michonne join Rick Grimes in ‘The Walking Dead’ Movie?
Isolation sucks, and no one knows that more than the characters of The Walking Dead that have weathered 10 series of the hit show. Actress Danai Gurira‘s had her very last episode of the show this week, but it seems that both her and the shows executives have plans for Michonne.
Characters usually meet a sticky end when their time is up, but both Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, and Michonne Hawthorne have both had an “open return ticket” with their endings. Rick Grimes was whisked away in a helicopter, thought dead by everyone else, as the show did a time jump of six years.
Poor Michonne has raised both their own child R.J (Rick Junior) and Judith Grimes, thinking that Rick was long dead, but in this weeks episode, titled What We Become, Michonne found evidence that Rick was still alive. The episode ended with Michone heading off to find our favorite off-duty cop. Considering this was Gurira‘s ast episode for the show, logic would suggest that Michone would re-unite with Rick in the planned movie. Yep, the film just got 100% more epic!
Walking Dead boss Scott Gimple recently spoke with Cinema Blend about the films, saying…
With the films, we definitely have plans. But even beyond the current plans, I have some ambitions. I love her and Rick together, but I love seeing her as the pure lead on her own, too. It just so happens that there’s a lot of story terrain to cover. But you’re right: it’s ambitions. Right now, the plans have to do with the feature film.
Whilst little is know about the films at this stage, or when they are coming, Scott did say this…
We are going to continue to tell Rick’s story, and we are going to discover so much of the world through that story. Rick will be challenged in different ways that, in some ways, everything that he’s been through has sort of prepared him for. It’s a much larger world than one that he had been operating in, and that was challenging in and of itself. Now things are heightened, and just as we’re going to the movies — and it is the movies proper, suitably wide screen — we’re going to be filling that screen with a brand new world.
The latest episode was watched by 3.66 million, proving that the show still packs a might punch. However, due to a lot of shutdowns of studio productions, the very last episode of series 10 will not air on schedule, but rather as a one-off special later this year.

We all want to see both Rick and Michonne back on the TV show at some point, but for now, they just need to both survive the films and the Corona virus.
