Raimi Wants Another Bruce Campbell ‘Evil Dead’ Film
Ever since Starz cancelled Ash Vs THe EVil Dead, director Sam Raimi has constantly spoke about his wishes to continue the series. In a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything, to promote his new film The Grudge, Raimi spoke with fans about the future of the series, and he had some very interesting things to say.
When asked “Will we get a final Sam Raimi Evil Dead movie?”, the director was quick to reply.
Bruce, Rob and I are working with a young fillmaker who is writing a new Evil Dead story that he will direct. As for me…. I would love to direct a new Evil Dead movie… but I’d really like to do it with Bruce. And he says he’s retired the character. I hope not.
Raimi is of courser referencing Bruce Campbell’s retirement from playing Ash Williams, with his final hooray being with his TV shows character appearing in the video game Dead By Daylight. If Bruce does not return for a new film, it would be highly unlikely that Raimi would ever grace the directorial chair of another film.
But it’s not all bad news. Raimi also spoke about a spin off Evil Dead project , which has been mentioned before.
There was also an extra Evil Dead related question which gave us a brief glimpse behind the scenes of Army of Darkness. It was asked, “How was the giant chopping blade on the Oldsmobile powered?”
In Army of Darkness, the Classic played it’s most difficult role: “The Deathcoaster”. It’s whirling blades were powered by Mechanical Efx man, Verne Hyde’s gasoline powered engine which was mounted to the Delta 88’s chasis.
Gotta love that name “The Deathcoaster”!
As huge a HUGE Evil dead fan, i’ll be keeping my ear very close to the ground on more news. I sure hope no skeleton hands pop up at me whilst I’m down here!?
