James Wan Shares Unused ‘The Conjuring 2’ Demon!
The Conjuring 2 was a land mark in horror! Not only did it cement the shared universe for Ed and Lorraine Warren, but it also introduced one of the franchises most loved spooky villains, the demonic nun known as Valak. Well it seems that the crazed Nun near did not make it into the film, as creator James Wan took to Instagram to share with us the original design for Valak.
“The original VALAK in The Conjuring 2 was going to be this winged demon. A beautifully/hideously sculpted animatronic puppet head and practical body-suit… But as cool as it was, it felt out of place within the Conjuring world we had built. And so during post production, I reconceived the villain — feeling it needed to be something more grounded, more personal, and creepier. And thus the demonic Nun was born.”
If you’re curious about the creature, Wan also dropped a video test of the said creature calling it “The Best Demon I Never Used”. The horned beastie was to be a suited actor with an animatronic mask and CGI wings, but sadly never made it into the film. Instead, Wan conceived Valak as the crazed Nun.
