Clive Barker’s Shocking New Hellraiser Game Unveiled

by | Jul 23, 2025

Horror fans, sharpen your hooks and polish your puzzle boxes: Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival has been officially announced, promising to drag players kicking and screaming into the blasphemous heart of Barker’s nightmarish universe. Developed by Boss Team Games and published by Saber Interactive, this single-player, first-person survival horror experience is being hailed as the first “true” adaptation of the iconic franchise.

What’s in the Box?

Players take on the role of Aidan, a desperate soul wielding the mysterious Genesis Configuration—a new puzzle box with infernal powers. When Aidan’s girlfriend Sunny is taken to a hellish abyss, it’s up to him to traverse Hell—and Hell on Earth—battling Cenobites, cultists, and all manner of sadistic horrors. The developers promise an arsenal mixing “earthly” weapons with the grotesque abilities granted by the Genesis Configuration. Expect plenty of flesh-rending combat and puzzle-solving as you try to outwit Pinhead’s minions.

The Return of Pinhead—And Doug Bradley!

Long-time fans can rejoice: Doug Bradley returns to voice Pinhead for the first time in nearly twenty years. If you thought you were safe from his legendary line deliveries (“We’ll tear your soul apart!”), think again. The trailer already showcases classic Cenobites like Chatterer, as well as new monstrosities sure to haunt your dreams.

Authentic Barker Nightmares

This isn’t just another licensed cash-in. Clive Barker himself has been deeply involved in the project, ensuring that the game’s story and atmosphere are steeped in the same seductive terror that made the original Hellraiser (1987) film a cult classic. As Barker put it:

“The dedication that Saber and Boss Team Games have shown is nothing short of remarkable. They’ve immersed themselves in the Hellraiser universe, capturing its essence—the seductive pull of suffering, the beauty within the grotesque—and forged a narrative that invites players to step beyond the threshold.”

That “threshold” isn’t just metaphorical; you’ll be exploring the Labyrinth, battling not only Cenobites, but also a twisted cult that worships them. Fail in your mission, and “your suffering will be legendary, even in Hell.”

Why This Matters

While Pinhead made an appearance in Dead by Daylight and there was a doomed NES project back in the day (RIP), this is truly the franchise’s first dedicated, full-blooded video game adaptation. The developers—who previously worked on Evil Dead: The Game—are promising an experience that pulls no punches when it comes to horror, body horror, or even the series’ trademark flirtations with pain and pleasure.

Release Details

No release date has been set yet, but Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. More details (and undoubtedly more Cenobite nightmares) are expected in 2025.

So get ready, horror hounds. The Cenobites are coming—and this time, you have no excuse not to open the box.
