BBC’s War of the Worlds Trailer is a Million to One!

If I mention War of The Worlds, you’re mind will no doubt stir up images of the either the 1953 Gene Barry film or the more recent Tom Cruise shindig in 2005. Where both of these story diverge most from H. G. Wells’ 1897 Sci-Fi novel, is it’s setting. Wells set his epic story in England, where as nearly ever movie version had swapped out old Blighty for the good ol U.S.A. So it is that the UK’s BBC has taken the challenge of telling the story as close to the book as they can get.

The star-studded british cast includes Eleanor Tomlinson, Rafe Spall, and Robert Carlysle, all of whom will find themselves fighting for a stiff-upper lipped survival against the martian invasion. Here for the first time, the story is set in Edwardian England, where earth becomes under attack by extraterrestrial life from Mars.

Set in Edwardian England, the series follows George (Rafe Spall) and his partner Amy (Eleanor Tomlinson) as they attempt to defy society and start a life together, facing the escalating terror of an alien invasion, while fighting for their lives against an enemy beyond their comprehension.

The three-part British drama miniseries is produced by Mammoth Screen for the BBC, co-produced with Creasun Media and Red Square. The invasion starts soon! Check out the trailer below!
