First look at Natasha Tosini’s ‘The Bloodline of Bathory’

The Bloodline of Bathory has unveiled its first poster, along with cast and creative team details, ahead of its arrival as a new gothic horror feature inspired by the infamous legend of Elizabeth Bathory. Produced by Natasha Tosini, for Taw Entertainment, the film mixes supernatural terror, psychological tension and dark humour, with a heavy use of practical effects to bring its blood-soaked horrors to life.

Set in Yorkshire, the story follows four young women whose overnight stay at a supposed Bathory tourist attraction turns into a nightmare after they discover a disturbing diary linked to the Countess’s legacy. As the house begins to warp around them and an ancient evil stirs within its walls, their escape quickly becomes a fight for survival.

The real life story of Hungarian countess Elizabeth Báthory (1560-1614) is a grim blood soaked tale of true terror. The countess is thought to be one of the most prolific female serial killers, with the legends leading us to believe that she murder over 600 young woman, so she could bathe in thier virginal blood. 

The film is bloody love child of actress and producer Natasha Tosini, who has dug up a few historical bodies to bring the story of Bathory to a modern audiance. Tosini said:

"From the very beginning, I didn’t want The Bloodline of Bathory to feel like a typical horror film simply using Elizabeth Bathory’s name. What fascinated me most was how disturbing the real mythology already is! The brutality, the obsession with youth and blood, and the fact that so much of the legend still lingers between history and folklore...

 

Horror has always been one of the most powerful ways to explore fear, obsession, and human darkness, and with The Bloodline of Bathory we wanted to create a film that feels both timeless and deeply uncomfortable… I love exploring the disturbing reality of humans, things that happened, I need to know the ‘why’. Why did she torture? Why did she kill? What happened in her life?” 

 Brining her vision to life is Director Bryan Norris, alongside a cast including Kelly Rian Sanson (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2), Jasmine Sumner (The Arbiter) and Tosini also joins the cast, expanding her growing list of genre films.
