‘Willow’ Series Trailer Reveals Epic Adventure Ahead

You can stuff your Lord of The Rings and Game of Thrones prequels into your pointy elven ears, the real fantasy TV series we have all been waiting for has just dropped it’s very first trailer…and it’s epic.

Hitting cinemas in May of 1988, Ron Howard directed fantasy’s adventure film Willow, which quickly became a massive hit, propelling star Warwick Davis into the stratosphere of fame and netting Lucasfilm a whooping $100 million profit. However, despite it’s success, fans never received a sequel, even though there was much talk about doing so. It wasn’t until 2005 that real talks of a possible sequel, in the form of a TV series, started to emerge in a more fully formed manner. But fans still had another 13 year wait until Howard confirmed that there were ongoing discussions regarding a sequel, and a couple of more years before Disney finally greenlit the show. 

Well…the wait has been long, but finally we are here. I won’t go on…just watch this damned thing and get those chills. 

The new show is set to see a couple of familiar faces from the films original, such as Warwick Davis as Willow Ufgood and Joanne Whalley as Sorsha (who interestingly is still not listed on IMDB). Don’t get your hopes up for Val Kilmer to make an appearance though, as the actor has sadly backed away from films recently, as a battle with throat cancer left the mega star unable to speak.

The new shows seems set to include more than a few nods to the original film though, with footage of pixies, trolls and epic set pieces that will surely scratch that fantasy adventure itch. Yep…this IS the show you’ve been waiting for. 

The show is set to debut on Disney+ on November 30th, 2022. Put a note in your calendar!
