‘Candyman’ 2020 Officially Delayed to September!

At this point in time, you kinda expect many of the films scheduled to release in 2020 to be pushed back due to the closures of cinemas due to the Covid -19. So, it will come as no shock that Universal has officially announced that Candyman’s release will be pushed. The film was previously set to hit theaters on June 12th, in time for a glorious summer release. That said, our hooked host won’t have too long to wait in cinema limbo, as the film has only been shifted a few months ahead, with doors opening September 25th, 2020.

There’s two majors points to be observed here folks! One, that Universal believe that by September we should all be up and about again. Remember that these guys follow trends and estimates to keep the wheels turning, so they must have good authority that things will be done by September, or at least they are hoping so! Rumors are that cinemas may be opening late June, so i guess Universal are holding out on this. Point two, if folks are out an about again, they will get themselves similar figures to a summer release. We can only image that flocks of people will be heading to the cinemas after doors open, having been subjected to a huge void of cinematic entertainment for months. There is, after all, only so much Netflix you can watch before your craving 4k, Dolby surround, popcorn infused cinema. 

The debut trailer had generated a huge amount excitement for Candyman’s summer release date, with Director Nia DeCosta, leading a tightly guarded sequel to the Candyman films, that takes place in the recently gentrified Chicago housing projects of Cabrini–Green. But now fans will have to wait and see what’s in store for the hooked menace. 

No body really wants a delay to Candyman but if you look at the big releases that were coming out on either side of it, such as Wonder Woman 1984, the push might just plop the film into a better space, especially one where cinema goers are desperate for some new fun horror!
