Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’ Expected in Late 2020
The end is nigh, and it’s coming up real fast! Revealed this weekend during the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, CBS revealed that the new adaptation of Stephen king’s The Stand will be hitting the small screens at the end of the year. Whilst we knew that it would be appearing, we just wasn’t all that sure when, or even if it would be in 2020. But now we have a definitive answer, and the world will end in the last quarter of 2020.
CBS All Access Executive Vice President of Original Content Julie McNamara made the announcement saying…
“With over 400 million books sold around the world, Stephen King is one of our greatest living authors and ‘The Stand’ is widely seen as the jewel in the crown of his work. This epic saga is perfectly suited to a premium streaming execution,”
The Stand. Released in 1978, is told from the point of view of the survivors of a superflu that has wiped out humanity and is by far one of King’s most expansive books, with characters from all across the US facing a new world in the wake of Captain Trips.
The New Mutants director Josh Boone is directing the new series with a full star cast and King has even written a new ending for the series!
The script for that final episode is written. I was glad Josh Boone gave me the chance, because that final story has been in my mind for 30 years.
