Could a Nightmare on Elm Street Sequel/Reboot be on the Cards
So the new Sequel/Reboot of Halloween is smashing the box office like Billy Corgan on guitar. It seems the new formula of taking an old and (and much loved) series and rebooting from the original, is really working well. Whilst we missed out on seeing a proper Alien 3 sequel, because Ridley Scott is a douche, Neill Blomkamp has simply dusted himself down and moved onto another Sequel/Reboot, Robocop. Next year will see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton team up once more for a Sequel/Reboot of The Terminator and it seems that another film favourite series could also go down that route…A Nightmare on Elm Street. Yep, it could be on the cards as original stars Robert England and Heather Langenkamp, weigh in for another SLICE!
To Start this sordid tale off, Robert England recently reprised his role as Freddy Kruger (for his third last time!) in a Halloween episode of US sitcom The Goldbergs. Getting back into character must of been like slipping into an old comfortable jumper you have not worn in years, as he reported to accessonline that he “has one more” in him!
“I think they want to reboot the franchise, but they’re gonna need a new actor. They’re gonna need a new actor to play Freddy because they’re gonna have to do eight of them. I might have one left in me… but yeah.”
So with that little slip, the juices got flowing. What if we had one more Nightmare movie with the REAL Freddy Kruger? England joked…
“It would be Freddy vs Viagra”
But with this news out on the wide-web, NOES last girl Heather Langenkamp, who played Nancy Thompson in Wes Craven’s 1984 original, pipped up to EW, telling them she’d be up for another film too.
“I’m sitting here like any other scream queen in Hollywood, hoping that they revive their franchise… I’m not alone! I know of lots of other horror heroines who have this little bit of spring in their step thinking about the chance of perhaps being in new versions of the movies that they helped make famous as young people. It’s kind of crazy, but it’s definitely something I would love to do.”
Well, New Line, that’s opportunity knocking at your door. But if the house that Freddy built answers is any ones guess. But the point is that the stars are keen, the formula is working and there are a legion of Nightmare fans just itching to get their buts sat down for a popcorn fuelled cinema vista to another Freddy flick. New Line Cinema…..make it so!!!!
