Nightmare On Elm Street Star Wants Halloween-Style Sequel

by | Oct 12, 2022

With David Gordon Green’s Halloween revival about to conclude this October, it seems that at least one other Horror icon is hoping to revive her old character in a Halloween-styled revival. Original A Nightmare on Elm Street star Heather Langenkamp spoke with Entertainment Tonight at this year’s New York Comic-Con, and reminisced on her time playing Nancy Thompson in the NOES franchise. Langenkamp jumped into the shoes of final girl Nancy three times, in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) and as a semi-characterisation of herself in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994). The horror star said:

If Nancy could fight Freddy one last time, I would really like that. Gosh, I’d love to see a future in that. I’ve been really watching the Halloween saga that’s been out, and I love watching Jamie Lee Curtis get to play that part. You know, this age, where I think we have so much to give to those storylines, but yeah, I wish I was in control of that, but, unfortunately, it’s one of those Hollywood very complicated things.

Much like Jamie Lee Curtis’ character from Halloween, Nancy was tragically killed off in the film series, but even being killed off twice couldn’t stop Jamie Lee, so lets say that the door is open for a Nancy return if someone is bold enough to step into wrangle us up some more Nightmare. But… i’ll be the one to say it, if Langenkamp returns, Robert England has to as well. And since the mega horror star has firmly retired Freddy Kruger, it’s possible that a Langenkamp and England reunion is pretty much out of the question at this point. Unlike Michael Myers, you can’t stick just any actor inside of Kruger’s prosthetic make-up and hope for the best. We saw how badly that went when Jackie Earle Haley jumped into the role of Kruger for the 2010 remake.

Whilst we’d all love to see Langenkamp’s return, only time will tell if that dream (or nightmare) will come true. (Sadly the video clip source is no longer available… sorry!!)
