It’s finally Official, after years of development and many attempts, Stephen Kings The Dark Tower is moving ahead, with two key cast members locked in place. Stephen King himself broke the news on twitter with the first line of his book.

The Dark Tower is finally getting underway with Idris Elba confirmed as the gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as his nemesis the Man in Black. Being the first of 7 books, plus an additional book King wrote post finale, the story see the Gunslinger Roland heading towards the Dark Tower to stop the universe’s destruction.
As we reported last year McConaughey has been in talks for awhile, for both The Dark Tower and the Stand, in which he would play the same character.
Ron Howard original helmed the project, with a lavish plan to release a Film and TV series, in order to tell the very long and complicated story. He envisioned Javier Bardem in the lead role of Roland. Now with Nikolaj Arcel as director, the film is moving ahead as a stand-alone film project, with sequels only a possibility at this time. Production is to start very soon.
