In a remarkable achievement for indie cinema, Full Moon Features has reached an impressive milestone with the release of its 400th film, Quadrant (2024). Known for its eclectic mix of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy films, Full Moon Features has been a staple in the independent film industry since its inception. Founded by the visionary Charles Band, the company has carved out a niche that combines innovative storytelling with a passion for genre films.

Charles Band is a name synonymous with independent genre filmmaking. With a career spanning over four decades, Band has produced and directed a vast array of films that have captivated audiences and left an indelible mark on the industry. Born into a family with a rich cinematic history—his father, Albert Band, was also a notable director and producer—Charles Band’s path in the film world seemed almost predestined.

Band’s journey began in the 1970s when he founded Charles Band Productions. Over the years, he established several production companies, including Empire Pictures and ultimately Full Moon Features in 1989. Each company contributed to his growing reputation as a maverick filmmaker unafraid to push boundaries. Band is responsible for bringing to life iconic films such as Re-Animator (1985), Ghoulies (1984), Puppet Master (1989), and Trancers (1984), all of which have left an enduring mark on the genre film landscape.

Quadrant (2024) is the first film under a new label called Pulp Noir, which promises to be Edgier, Darker, Scarier, marking a new direction for Full Moon Features. I recently had the privilege of sitting down with Charles Band to discuss the significance of this landmark release and Pulp Noir. In our interview, Band shared his thoughts on the journey that brought New Moon Features to this pivotal moment and offered a glimpse into what audiences can expect from Quadrant.

Quadrant (2024): A Bold New Direction for Full Moon Features

Directed by Band, Quadrant (2024) is a striking departure from the campy fun that fans have come to expect. Instead, this film delves into the chilling possibilities of virtual reality, blending psychological horror with thought-provoking themes.

The story centres around the Quadrant helmet, a revolutionary device that allows users to immerse themselves in virtual experiences, even confronting death itself. The helmet brings users’ worst fears to life but provides a unique opportunity: if they can face and conquer their fears in the virtual world, those fears will be eradicated in reality.

Erin (played by Shannon Barnes) becomes enthralled with the Quadrant’s capabilities after several sessions and starts to crave the experience. However, her obsession takes a dark turn as she begins to kill people in the real world, transforming into a modern-day Jack the Ripper. As the creators of the Quadrant scramble to control the situation, they realise it’s too late—Erin is on a relentless killing spree.

The film release today 23rd August 2024, and is avaibale on Full Moon Features, Amazon Prime, Tubi and pyshcial media. As a cool nod to Full Moon’s past, as a pioneer in the horror video rental market, the film will also be available as a collectors VHS, and Band will be signing every copy. You can pick up a copy over at Full Moon Horror.

But wait, there’s more! Pulp Noir is kicking off a new era for Full Moon, and they want you to join the fun. They’ve launched a Patreon page with some seriously cool tiers. We’re talking exclusive T-shirts, Blu-Ray clubs, and more goodies than a Halloween candy haul. And for the ultimate bragging rights? The top tier lets you snag an executive producer credit on future films. Imagine casually dropping that gem at your next dinner party!

So, what are you waiting for? Head over to the Pulp Noir Patreon page and get in on the action!
