Park Chan-wook’s astounding 2003 thriller Oldboy is without doubt one of the top films of the naughties. And whilst the neo-noir action story of a man imprisoned away for 15 years received an American re-make in 2013, the original is still vastly more superior. What few people release is that the film was actually an adaption of a Japanese manga of the same name written by Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya. Cine-Fx are once again asking.. “What’s the Difference? ” with their focus on the original and manga adaptions. Oldboy – What’s the Difference?

It made our list of favorite adaptations of all time so here’s a deep dive into the bonkers story of a man locked away by for years, and his struggle to get revenge.
