Universal Pictures Launches Dark Universe
We are just a few weeks away from Universal Pictures first film in its shared universe, The Mummy. Whilst the plans have been well know for a while, we have some news that will blow you away, as the monster world is about to get epic.
Universal have just announced The Dark Universe, the combined world of Universal’s classic monster characters. Kicking off with the Mummy, starring Sofia Boutella as the titular creature, the film will open the doors to other films such as The Bride of Frankenstein in 2019 and further plans for films such as The Wolfman and The Invisible Man. This combined universe may just see a few cross-over movies to, with a fully blown Avengers styled film in a few years. The good news is that they are taking it easy this time around, as their previous plans feel, through with the disappointing failure of Dracula Untold in 2014.
It’s a huge task, but it seems like the people in charge are certainly throwing everything at it, with a trailer launching the new Movie Monster World. Looking back at the classic black and white era of film, the teaser is backed by an original franchise theme composed by Danny Elfman an all-new motion logo designed by Weta Digital.
But hang on… thats not all…
Universal Pictures confirmed Monday that Johnny Depp will play The Invisible Man and Javier Bardem Frankenstein’s monster in next The Bride of Frankenstein.
With big names and big plans… it might just be the biggest news in horror in years. The glory days of Universal Monsters will return..soon…
